It all began with pencils and crumpled pieces of paper in my early years. I always had an innate love for clothes. Growing up, I would draw haphazard sketches of dresses on paper and squeeze them up afterwards. I remember how excited I used to be when my mum took us to the tailor's shop because I knew I would have to think of a new style to have sewn.
I started nurturing the dream of becoming a fashion designer in 2013. I was an undergrad at the Faculty of Law, Ambrose Alli University, Edo State, Nigeria. That year, a strike by the school staff caused my university to close down for six months. Although it set my academic calendar back by a few months, it was an opportunity to chase my dream.
I signed up to become an apprentice at a local tailor's shop. During that time, I learned how to cut and sew fabric.
As the years passed, I let that dream go. I pursued all my other passions until 2025, when I was inspired to pick the dream up again and launch a clothing brand. With this inspiration, Yena's Tribe was born.
With Yena's Tribe, it's my dream to create clothes that make women look and feel confident.
